Sometimes, it’s hard to come up with a ton of words to describe a pedal and how it sounds, or makes you feel, or brings an immediate smile to your face. That said, I’ll try to do my best to try and describe the Hammer Distortion Fuzz from Greer Amps. Another in our recent lineup of 3-knob pedals, this one has got gusto, oomph and rock and roll ensconced into its DNA, and that is evident after you turn it on and hit the first chord.
Volume, Gain and Grunt are the only controls you have to trouble yourself with on the Hammer. With a ton of output volume available, you’ll be sure to slice and dice any mixes that come your way, and with ease, I might add. The Gain knob has a nice range of textures, and will produce a vast amount of differing tonal options for you, from thick and rich overdriven distortion to a down-and-dirty fuzz, and a bunch in between, too. This control also works together with the Grunt knob, which adds in more grit and grime as your crank it up. These two together form the heart of the Hammer, and the results will have you longing for more.
This is one of those pedals that has so few controls, yet so many sonic possibilities, it’s hard to figure out how they crammed it all into one simple box. AS with all Greer Amps pedals, the Hammer Distortion Fuzz is handmade, with top quality components, and features true bypass and a Lifetime Warranty to the original owner, which is always a bonus. Want to say thanks again to Nick and all at Greer Amps for their continued support – every time we get another pedal in from these guys, we’re blown away, so keep cranking out the goods from Athens, and stay tuned for more Greer reviews coming up on the horizon!
