With the same control knob section as the Fuchs Audio Plush Phone Tone (none), today’s pedal is a bit of an oddball, but a fun one nonetheless. With only a Bypass footswitch to control it’s operation, the Tentacle Analog Octave from EarthQuaker Devices is a true one-trick pony, and will absolutely add a new dimension to your sound.
The Tentacle is the same octave up that is present in EQD’s Hoof Reaper pedal, and adds a nice analog octave blanket to your signal chain. Becoming more present on the higher frets of your guitar, the Tentacle really shines using your neck pickup, for a true octave up boost. When you combine it with other effects (fuzzes, reverbs, etc.), then it breaks out of its shell, really coming to life and doing the same to your tone.
The video below will provide a glimpse into what the Tentacle can do, but this is another one of those pedals that you need to plug into your whole rig to see what it can do. Able to easily accentuate any tone or effect, this pedal oozes with analog sounds, and shows once again the innovative nature of the pedal lineup from EarthQuaker Devices.
