I love it when pedals throw something wacky, funky or unexpected at you, to keep you on your toes, and use effects to expand the range of the music you produce. The gang over at Main.Ace.FX have done just that, and this happens to be one of their TAMER pedals. An excellent example of a simple overdrive/distortion/freak box, I present to you the One Shot.
Utilizing not one but TWO Gain controls is where the fun begins with the One Shot. Depending on where you place each one will determine a whole new set of sounds, especially when paired with the other controls. Warm and a bit fuzzy overdrive is easily achievable here, but don’t worry, this puppy will crank out some hardcore distortion sounds as well. With plenty of output volume and the dual gain stages, you’re fans will never be at a loss for sound.
There’s a Glitch knob as well, which I believe controls the voltage going to the pedal, making for some crazy combinations with the 2 gain stages, and producing some unexpected results. Add to all this the super-rad Freak-Out Oscillation switch, and get ready to have some fun! This switch will send the distorted tones into an entirely new dimension of sound, letting you experiment and create ’til the cows come home.
