As my ridiculous pedal pile continues to grow and grow, I’m finding it hard to store all of my collection, and since I want to play them all all the time, I need a plethora of boards to keep them nice and tidy. Pedalboards are pretty much pedalboards, i.e. different woods, features, wiring options and sizes, but a board is still basically a board. Until now. MY new buddy Peter over at PedlStools has devised an interlocking system of effects pedal blocks that allow for easy setup and switchability, depending on what pedals you feel like playing on any given day. Here they are, PedlStools: Modular Mounts for effects pedals.
Using only a couple of small wrenches, these PedlStools mounts enable you to plan out your signal chain, arrange it just how you want, then simply screw the mounts together to form your own unique and self-designed pedalboard. Available in two standard sizes, this system allows you to arrange your pedals in an extremely specific way, allowing you to be able to reach them all with ease, change the height of the mounting surface, and have a no-fuss, no-muss arrangement that you won’t even have to think twice about on stage.
Since there’s no sound coming out of these blocks of wood, I went with a picture gallery today instead of the usual demo video, and featured some different setups and possible arrangements with some pedals I had laying around, to give you all an idea about how this system works, and just a couple of the possibilities that you can create in mere minutes. Click on the images below to see how it works:

As you can see, the configurations are really endless, and with the ability to add on modules as you see fit, you’ll never run out of room again. Plus, you can use multiple modules for your bigger pedals, opening the doors for all the effects you could need to be placed right at your feet. Organized into “COLLECTIONs” that are defined by different species of woods and finishes or stains (Baltic Birch, Bamboo, Shedua, Figured Black Walnut, Brazil Satinwood, Purpleheart and Tiger Maple), there are many choices for your specific configuration. And, each PedlStools module arrives in a protective cover of your choice, hand made by their sister company PedalPouches, really adding a professional and slick-looking touch to the whole thing.
Each shipment includes velcro as well, to get you started right out of the box, and start forming your own unique pedalboard creation. And, as you can clearly see, the possibilities are endless when it comes to designing your own PedlStools modular configuration, no matter if you have 3 pedals or 30. Thanks so much to Peter over at PedlStools for sending us this system to test out and see how it all works for ourselves. Today is the official launch of the first run of PedlStools, so get over to their website now, and don’t be constrained to regular pedalboards any more!
