The Power Series pedals that Ibanez made back in the 80’s have come to be a well sought-after group, and a good chunk of that group of pedals can be found for extremely reasonable prices as well. The pedal we’re gonna check out today is the SC10 Stereo Chorus, a great little blue box full of charm and character, kinda like me.
Speed (the rate of the effect) and Width (the intensity of the chorus) are two extremely common Chorus control knobs, and are the first two of three represented with the SC10. The third knob is a Delay Time control, which actually sets when the effect is brought into the mix, with a range of 1ms to 7ms. This is a great addition for bring out the rich, subtle aspects of the SC10, and works well with the other 2 knobs. Utilizing this set leads to continual experimentation, and will produce both mellow tones and intense, fluttery chorus sounds, plus a whole spectrum in between.
Not only that, but this pedal can be run in Stereo as well, adding yet another feature to the mix of this already powerful unit. I want to mention also that the SC10 runs on analog BBD circuitry, making it sound warm and vintage, not like a lot of chorus pedals from this era that tended to be harsh and biting. If you’re looking for a cheap, awesome, stereo chorus pedal that sounds great and has a couple of cool options as well, look no further than the Ibanez SC10 Super Stereo Chorus.
