Humboldt Endemic Pedals Regainer Hi-Gain Overdrive

We recently introduced you to Fuse Electronics, a pedal company creating some great gear out of Chile, and they’ve got another line of pedals as well: Humboldt Endemic Pedals. These extraordinary pedals are made with recycled woods from Valparaiso and Santiago de Chile (check out the video about their process HERE), and are wildly unique and creative. Their first offering is the Regainer Hi-Gain Overdrive, which we’re gonna explore in today’s review.

The Regainer has a fairly basic control layout, with one added bonus, and a sound that really rips. The Volume knob here boasts 30dB of gain, for a super-loud gain that will absolutely demolish anything that attempts to get in it’s way in the mix.

The Tone and Distortion knobs both have a large range they cover, making the sonic possibilities vast and expansive. This pedal responds really well to your picking dynamics, with the distortion being clean and crisp, even at louder volumes. There’s a sneaky hidden (sort of) knob on the side, that acts as a Distortion Peak control, going from High to Low, for even more adjustability and creative control over your sound.

This pedal is really all about the tones, though. The cleans are nice and ear-friendly, the drive sounds are warm and rich and the distortion is crystal clear at hi-gain settings, but with still enough punch and kick to put it up against any other heavy pedals out there. Check the video for a sneak peek at just a few of the sounds you’ll be able to coax out of this lightweight beauty.

Great business practices and use of reusable materials make this company stand out right away, not to mention they’re making some hella cool gear down in South America. Thanks so much to everyone involved with Humboldt Endemic Pedals (and Fuse Electronics) for allowing us the opportunity to test out a great-sounding and truly inspired guitar effects pedal. Here’s to your continued success in your future endeavors…just make sure you send us more pedals to review!
