Vibe effects are some of the funnest, most intriguing and awe-inducing pedals in the world, especially when it comes to tremolos. They can be simple, one or two knob deals, or complex machines with expression jacks and toggle switches out the wazoo. The Trembulator from Gojira FX falls somewhere in the middle of these two extremes, with a relatively simple control layout and loads of great tones to be heard.

Four basic knobs make up the control section of the Trembulator, but inside these deceivingly-simple twisters lies a huge spectrum of pulses and vibes waiting to be unleashed. Volume does what you think it would, so let’s move on to Balance, which lets you blend the tremolo signal with your guitar’s dry signal, for a nice amount of control of the overall effect. Pulse adjusts the trem’s speed, which is pretty quick even dialed all the way back, and has many different intervals as you crank it clockwise. Finally, an Intensity knob rounds things out, allowing you to choose the wave and shape of the pulse, from mellow and warm to biting and sharper, with again a nice range in between.

The sounds that come out of the Trembulator are nothing shy of eye-opening and awe-inspiring. Vibrato, Leslie sounds, classic tremolos and all kinds of other sonic gems come pouring out from the minute you click it on, making for hours of time fiddling with knobs and finding the vibe sound that best fits your style and setup. Plus, the LED flashes in time with the speed of the pulse, which I personally dig, and you can even order this beauty with your own custom artwork, too! It’s also hand-built, all-analog and hidden in a tough enclosure that’s definitely built to last. I’d like to thank the fine folks at Gojira FX for sending this great trem to us all the way from Scotland – they’ve got a bunch of cool gear on their site, don’t forget to stop by and check it out!
