You want a simple, no-BS fuzz pedal that will go right onto any pedalboard and fit in instantly? A fuzz that only features one knob and one toggle switch, for easy dialing in of tones and fuzzy gooeyness? A fuzz so clean and dirty at the same time that it just might make your head explode? Then look no further than today’s pedal, the Temple of Doom Fuzz from Furukawar Effects.
The one lone knob on the Temple of Doom (great name, by the way) Fuzz is a Volume control, which simultaneously controls the amount of grit and fuzz as well. I like this because you don’t have to think about it, just turn one knob, adjust to taste and you’re done. If you want to get a little crazy, however, there is one more control: a toggle switch that’s almost hidden in the shiny silver enclosure, which alternates between the Silicon and Germanium clipping diode selections. Still allowing for easy control, this switch adds a little more beef into the mix, depending where you place it, but once again, just turn the Volume knob to your liking and away you go!
The sound itself is awesome, too, from a low but clear rumbling drive tone to a fat, rich fuzz, and a good bit of options in between. Check the video to hear the sounds this little monster can create: nothing too flashy, over-the-top or biting, just a solid, fat fuzz that will enhance your tone and cut through any mix you want to throw at it. Being that this is their flagship (and currently only available) pedal, I’m personally excited to see what the future holds for Furukawar Effects. I really, really dig this fuzz, the simplicity, the easy controls and most importantly the sound. Cheers to Mario and the crew at Furukawar on an excellent first pedal – be sure to check their website for more info, and for more new and exciting pedals!
