T-Rex Effects Whirly Verb Reverb

Reverb has always been a presence in guitar music, at least over the last 60 years or so, but it seems like it has really become a force as of late, with many specific reverb pedal models popping up on everyone’s boards throughout the guitar community. T-Rex has done something fun with their Whirly Verb reverb pedal, and added another dimension that many of these pedals do not possess, which makes it unique to hear, as well as super fun to play.

Three main, basic controls are here, and one extra knob that really makes the Whirly Verb sparkle. Volume is volume, Reverb and Decay work together to adjust the intensity of the effect and how long it trails off after you play a note or chord. The real fun here is the Modulation control, which can be accessed by a second stomp switch at the bottom of the pedal. This creates some rich sonic textures, like a weird ambient blanket covering up the “room” your reverb is supposed to sound like. Dial in a little for a subtle hint of weirdness, or crank it up and listen to your signal go places you only dreamed of before. These controls all play nicely with each other, and open the door for endless reverberated possibilities.

Nothing too fancy, just a great, warm, rich-sounding reverb from T-Rex, with a special bonus to kick it up a notch, and have you playing some crazy ambience-laden noise. This pedal is now discontinued, as was only available originally at Guitar Center or Musician’s Friend. If you can find one, they’re usually fairly inexpensive, and a great way to add another layer of texture to your sonic palette.

Specs:
Best analog sounding Reverb
Related to the famous T-Rex Roommate
Tremendous ranges – can be set to emulate pretty much any size room you can imagine
The modulation effect uses a simple warm, vintage chorus circuit
Great for guitarists with experimental tendencies
