Well, if you’ve ever played with any T-Rex Effects products, you’ll know they are good quality tools. Or perhaps I have just been lucky with the ones I’ve had. Anywhoo, today i bring to you the Comp-Nova!! This is an always on tool for me. I used to be just a guitar and amp guy for like 15 years or so, and the past few years I’ve jumped on the pedal craze wanted to get my hands all that’s out there. This compressor is one of the best that I’ve tried. I won’t name the other that I didn’t like but instead talk about this one.
First of all, it is studio grade. It is quiet compared to many that I’ve played. You always seem to get a little white noise with these types of pedals but this one has almost none. The compression is not squashy either. Don’t get me wrong, it does what compressors do, but doesn’t overly squash the signal. It still retains an open feel and adds great sustain if playing lead stuff. Of course, the new price tag is intimidating to some at $199, but if you’re looking for a good compressor, the Comp-Nova is worth checking out. Runs on a regular 9v battery or adapter. It only draws like 11 m/a so you can squeeze it in there with just about any power supply.
