I’m not a big fan of multi-effects units, but this one is really cool. Three awesome Electro-Harmonix effects in one: the Micro POG, Stereo Electric Mistress and the Holy Grail Plus. Alone, each effect is great, but together they make amazing tones. From organ tones to shimmering reverbs you hear on many other coveted reverb units, you’ll be entertained for hours trying and finding new sounds to tickle the ears.
First, the Micro POG an awesome unit that has three knobs: octave up, octave down and a dry knob that blends the dry signal in. The Stereo Electric Mistress has chorus, flanger and rate knobs. This one is cool. At 12 o’clock, it starts to slowly wave up and down the sound waves of modulation bliss, and the more you turn to the right, the faster the ride. You can get some great Leslie sounds with it turned to the right and stack the Micro POG…..Bam! Organ! To the left of 12 o’clock, it freezes the wave form in whatever spot you leave it. Like a wah if you cock it and leave it.. different frozen wave sound wherever you roll it. The Holy Grail Plus is added at the end, but not to be considered the least of the three. With a blend and amount knob and selector knob, which consists of spring, hall, room and flerb reverb types. Also added is a shimmer switch, which re-routs the signal chain, and with the Micro POG engaged, it puts the reverb in the octaves and creates that wonderful shimmer reverb we love (or hate.) The Flerb adds a flanger as well, but with the shimmer engaged you get an echo effect or slight delay added to the mix.
All in all, the Epitome Multi-Effect from Electro-Harmonix a really fun pedal with lots of sounds to be made. Stereo in and out and runs on 9v. Plug, play, enjoy.
