Yellowcake Pedals Furry Burrito Overdrive Fuzz

I randomly stumbled onto the folks over at Yellowcake Pedals, and was able to check out their flagship pedal, a wicked cool Overdrive/Fuzz called the Furry Burrito. Awesome name aside, this little teal monster produces some scorching drive tones, and will get you to that nice, middle ground fuzz area where it’s still safe to play, yet not too safe to rock it out. Lots of options on this puppy, let’s take it for a spin, shall we?

Right away, I see a Gain and a Drive control knob, so I know I’m in for a treat. Turns out, the Gain controls the Fuzz side of the Furry Burrito, and the Drive controls the Overdrive section. Who are we kidding, though, you’re gonna use them both at the same time, right? Of course, but it’s a pretty cool option to be able to use them together or separately, and I experimented with both. The Fuzz part is very saturated, not too buzzsaw-ish, a nice layer to add over your playing, and can get deep down and fuzzy when cranked (especially when using the Trim knob, more on that in a minute). The Drive section is great on it’s own as well, but really shines when paired up with the Fuzz. Mixing these 2 controls will yield multiple useful settings, and are easy to shift on the fly in a live setting, too.

The Filter is your basic EQ control: lows to the left, highs to the right, and Level obviously controls the overall output of the pedal itself. There’s a Fat toggle switch, which adds some more beef to the low end, which I’m always happy to see, and the Clear Trim dial, which actually starves the circuit and pumps up the feedback. This knob is fun for getting blippy fuzz tones, as well as HUGE sustain when holding notes or chords for an extended period of time. Lots of fun here, don’t forget about this little dial.

Basically, this is a 3-in-one pedal: Overdrive, Fuzz or both. Everything from a meaty but warm overdrive to a Muffy fuzz, and all sorts of stuff in between, the Furry Burrito is a true force to be reckoned with. Plus, the design features the Input, Output and Power jacks up top, making for easy fitting onto your crowded pedalboard. Thanks so much to Ryan over at Yellowcake Pedals for sending over this sweet drive for review – go see their website and get one for yourself today!
