The JHS Pedals Panther is a kick ass delay and one of the more beautiful pedals on my board. It is an all-analog delay (if I’m not mistaken) but with a tap tempo switch. This pedal is amazing. The repeats are warm and the modulation on the repeats just makes it even sweeter.
This delay has a ton of features but I won’t be going into too much detail about it. At the top panel (where the inputs and outputs are) there is a input jack that allows me to control certain parameters of the Panther using an expression knob. So to make full use of this, I engaged a local pedal builder to build me a custom dual output tap tempo with an expression knob on the top. This allows me to tap in the beat of the song while manipulating the parameters, which is in this case the subdivisions.
Another cool feature about the Panther is the on board effects loop. This allows me to place in any pedal within the effects loop and this will only affect the delay repeats. So for instance for those angelic choirs, I could place in a shimmer reverb pedal which will only affect the repeats. I place the Strymon BlueSky in the effects loop of the Panther for volume swells. This gives it a deep and thick sound for swells.
