The pedals that are being created by Hartman are really tantalizing to the eyes (and, as it turns out, the ears as well). Today’s reviewed pedal is no exception to that rule: the Vintage Germanium Fuzz looks as old school and classic as they come, and the sounds are just the same, only using modern, reliable and excellent-quality parts to re-create the sounds of the past.
Three knobs make for easy controlling of this fuzztastic beauty: Volume, Level and Fuzz. The Volume controls how much of the effect’s signal is pumped out through your amp, and this guy will give you some volume, believe it! The Level helps to control the strength of your guitar’s input signal, making it easy to adjust the sound depending on what pickup configuration you happen to be playing, and enabling sometimes-noisy high-output pickups to sounds smooth and buttery. If by some chance you don’t want any signal dampening or control, just roll the Level all the way back, and the pedal functions normally. This knob really allows complete control over your overall sound, and could make the difference between having and not-having a fuzz pedal on your board at all.
Speaking of Fuzz, this control is also has a wonderful range, from slightly buzzed to all-out hammered, and lots of tonal opportunities in between. Hartman Pedals have used N.O.S. PNP Germanium transistors in this Vintage Fuzz, trying to create that classic fuzz face sound many of us guitarists are continually searching for. This pedal reacts wonderfully to the dynamics of your playing, and the sweet, warm sustain it invokes will put a smile on your face and keep it there for days. Another fantastic-sounding pedal from a great company, Hartman Pedals has done it once again. If you haven’t had the chance to try out their gear yet, make it a point to do so soon – it could change the way you think about your pedal setup altogether.

Great pedal. I am using it in recording my second album. I do classic rock style originals through a number of guitars but it works especially well through a Sheraton II. Of course the amps used are tube. What more could one want.

I have one, but it’s acting up. I cannot find Hartman contact info anywhere. Any ideas. HELP! I LOVE this pedal.

From what we can gather, Hartman is no longer in business. Might have to find a local electronics repair shop and see what they can do!
