Well, here’s another incredible fuzz pedal from Devi Ever. The God Zilla is a side-by-side octave fuzz pedal, which means there are 2 separate circuits feeding this beast, and you may use them as individual effects, or combine the two for a powerhouse wall of fuzzy awesomeness. Plus, it looks wicked rad.
The left bypass switch controls the first gain channel, which is actually Devi Ever’s GZ (Goddess Zero) Fuzz, and produces a very dark and spooky fuzz tone, with loads of sustain. You can also dial it back a nit just by using your guitar’s Volume knob, for a less-intense fuzz tone. The Volume control on this side might seem like it doesn’t work right away, but t works in conjunction with the right side of the pedal, so it takes a little more to really hear it, otherwise your ear drums would instantly bleed if you kicked both sides on at the same time. Higher up on your fretboard, this side will get into video game territory, tough in a useful way, not just for sounding like Super Mario Bros. The Pregain knob has a nice range, too, going from slightly buzzy to a warm, meaty fuzz.
The right side is the second channel, Devi Ever’s VFM (Vintage Fuzz Master) pedal, which is nothing short of a spectacular octave fuzz. High-gain, fat fuzz is what’s on tap here. Again, the intensity of the fuzz can be dialed back with your guitar’s volume, making both sides extremely versatile and exciting. The sustain on this side goes on FOREVER, gently gliding into silence as it works its way through a minefield of buzzsaws and dropped low end crunches. As expected when you kick on both sides simultaneously, the result is all-out fuzz warfare, producing some of the thickest, heaviest, awesomest low end octave fuzz you’ll ever hear (and, surprise surprise, you can dial it back with your guitar’s volume knob!).
The God Zilla is a true work of octave fuzz art, conjuring up a ton of different tones and sonic textures for you to experiment with, and find your own fuzzy voice. If you’ve been looking for some far-out 60’s and 70’s fuzzy power tones, look no further than this amazing pedal from Devi Ever!
