The LoLo Optic Double Speed Tremolo comes to us from MRB Pedals in Venezuela, and is truly a unique tremolo beast. It features 2 separate speed controls, which you can set independently, and then choose which one you’d like to use on the fly via a footswitch. 2 different LEDs that blink simultaneously, 2 footswitches for Speed and On/Off and 2 different color knobs to control the unique Rates of the independent tremolo speeds. A pretty simple pedal, with some great options and even more pulsating sonic goodness to sink your teeth into.
While a lot of tremolo pedals have different toggles for waveform selections, regurgitated “vintage” settings, etc., the Lolo just has controls for the Rates of the 2 different tremolos…and that’s it. While having more options can make for a more dialed-in sound, the ease-of-use from a pedal like this is sometimes welcome in the often-confusing, manual-heavy pedal world we live in. The Range of both of these speeds is excellent, too, from a smooth, slow burn all the way up to whacked-out, trippy, ’60’s vibrato sound, and a variety of modulation in between. The LEDs are nice, in that they are on all the time, so you know exactly what the speed is for both settings, and you can pick and choose which one you need for any particular song in real time, without any awkward and potentially song-stalling adjustment interruptions.
It’s always a nice option on pedals like these to be able to control the overall volume, too, and the Lolo does just that. The Depth control lets you really allow as much or as little of the effect to shine through in combination with your instrument’s signal, starting with a shallow, ambient setting, and moving up and up to a full-on power tremolo that basically takes over your tone…in a good way. Relatively easy to use, great sounds, true bypass, great control abilities and a fun and colorful design, the Lolo from MRB Pedals is an excellent, space-saving dual tremolo that will suit most player’s needs just fine.
