As I’ve said before, I love 2-In-1 pedals, especially overdrives, and the Sweet Tea from JHS Pedals is no exception. 2 sides of independent tone, each holding it’s own solo, and an amazing sound-producer when melted together at the same time. Marshall tones, classic screamer tones and more erupt from this stompbox, let’s give it a look!
On the right side, we’ve got the JHS-808, based on a classic design, but with a few added upgrades. It’s got lower noise output than other similar drives on the market, and great bass tones as well! Great for driving your amp to that sweet spot, and even a little bit further – you could set this and leave it on all the time if you wanted to. There’s also a 3-way toggle, which allows you to select from 3 different flavors of saturation, making the possibilities plentiful for this side. On the left side, it’s the JHS Angry Charlie, which is a superb take on the Marshall JCM800 tones of the past. A Presence knob has a beautiful range for specifically crafting your own Marshall sound, with Volume, Tone and Drive controls rounding out this side of the pedal. The now-standard order toggle lets you decide which side of the pedal goes first in your effects chain, once again letting you sculpt your sound that much more.
The Sweet Tea Dual Drive is full of gorgeous, soaring Marshall-y sounds, as well as becoming an absolute beast when combining both sides at once. You could hook this up to a Fender Frontman and you would sound like Tom Morello or Zakk Wylde…well, maybe not, but you get the idea! Thanks to Josh and all at JHS Pedals from their generous donations, go check out all they have to offer on their website – please keep supporting all of our pedal companies and what they do for us!
