Walrus Audio Iron Horse Distortion

I have been a fan of Walrus Audio‘s gear for a while now, and this one just keeps that wonderful tradition going strong. The Iron Horse is exactly that: a true distortion beast, caged in a metal enclosure, waiting to be unleashed on the Earth in all it’s fiery glory…alright, maybe that’s a bit much, but this pedal is a serious piece of sonically distorted goodness.

Dirty, dirty, dirty. This is a distortion not for the faint of heart. That said, it can also be used quite nicely as a wonderful, warm, tube-amp-sounding overdrive, just by dialing back the Distortion a little bit (well, a decent amount). The 3 knobs are self-explanatory, and the 3-way toggle works well in each mode in conjunction with the Tone and Distortion knobs, providing a HUGE range of available tones to the user. It can also get pretty close to doing some mild-mannered fuzz, which is a whole other dimension in and of itself. Super-metal? Maybe not so much. It lacks the high-end, ear piercing stuff that some folks love, which is OK in my book. But tasty, gritty, almost fuzzy distortion? Look no further. After you test out each clipping mode and play with the knobs a bit, you’ll be set to dial in your sound and roll.

A great, easy-to-use distortion, with no frills or unnecessary knobs or switches, the Iron Horse will get you just to the edge of harmonic sanity…and might just push you over! Built like a champ, as usual, from the fine people at Walrus Audio – make sure to see what else they have to offer you!
