The White Pine Overdrive from Blackeye Effects is a low to mid gain overdrive that goes from a sparkling clean boost to a gained out fuzz with the turn of a knob. For the price, you will be hard pressed to find a better drive that can cover more ground or look as stunning on a board than this pedal.
This pedal has three tweakable knobs: gain, volume, and presence. The gain and volume knobs work together to creating nearly any drive/gain stage you could need.
With the gain pulled back and the volume turned up you get a nice bit of sparkle and punch to your clean tone. Set the gain and volume at noon and you have a nice medium gain setting. Finally, crank the gain and you’ve got a thick, fuzzy lead tone.
The secret weapon of the White Pine is the presence knob. I love to keep my nearly full open for a nice present drive tone that really cuts through the mix.
For $129 new, you will not be disappointed by the tone that comes on tap with this stunning overdrive. Oh, and did I mention how great this thing looks on a pedal board. It’s an eye-catcher for sure.
