The Boss NS-2 is your basic noise reduction system, it does exactly what it says and takes the unwanted noise and feedback you get from playing at high volumes or with a lot of gain. Specially when your not playing and just standing by your amp. This pedal comes with 3 different knobs on the top THRESHOLD, DECAY, REDUCTION/MUTE MODE the Threshold knob adjust how much or how little feedback you would like to reach your amp, The Decay Knob adjust the release and how quickly the pedals removes the feedback and unwanted noise after you stop playing. The last knob on the far right side has two modes one for reduction mode where you can either have it on or have no noise reduction at all and turn it off, the other mode allows it to mute when engaged and when its not engaged the pedal still acts as a noise suppressor in with you can’t turn off.
The Boss NS-2 also comes with a convenient send and return as well as a input and output. This pedal does the trick if your looking to not have your amp scream at your while you stand there between songs. I use mine on the MUTE mode because with its send and return jacks it allows you to attach other effects or a tuner like i do. When you stomp on the mute switch it mutes and allows you to tune quietly or mute a certain section of pedals, when you disengage the mute returns to your active working ns-2 reduction which i find super convenient.
