The Analogman Sun Face Fuzz is my first foray into a custom made to order effects pedal. I went for the kitchen sink on this one and got every extra I could (only partial regret was getting a power supply jack as this type of pedal does best with a cheap battery). Can come with a on/off pot switch so you don’t have to unplug the pedal to save battery life (awesome), optional L.E.D. (can drain battery faster). I did not get an outside bias pot (as this pedal will only be played at home under relatively controlled temperature conditions).
This pedal doesn’t boost your db’s much so you will use most of the breath of the volume knob to get to unity depending on your level of fuzz or beyond for more of a lead feel. The Sun Face does stay warm and creamy through most of the fuzz spectrum, until you dime it and it gets fully saturated and buzzy (my most favorite setting for the Sun Face). Dimed it gives you a rich familiar and satisfying lead tone, notes sustain infinitely. For Rhythm its fat and full (complex cords tend to get muddy as is expected with high saturation fuzz, but roll the volume down it remains broken up and your cords come through as you would want to hear).
So the Sun Face plays best with other effects when it’s at the top of the chain as the circuitry is effected dynamically by the signal it receives. The Sun Face is organic, dynamic and an expertly built effect. I was so pleased I was tempted to try some of the other flavors available as you have an option to choose from a variety of new old stocks germanium and silicon transistors.
