The Hi-Volt Custom 1 from Lovepedal is a mid-to-high gain overdrive pedal that features a great active 3-band EQ and enough gain to blow the house down. Tons of low-end for those extra heavy, chunky riffs, and the highs will have your axe singing and screeching like it was headlining Rocklahoma.
I love drive pedals that boast 3 equalization knobs, as opposed to one tone knob that usually just does highs and lows. You can’t really get a good mix of flavors from those pedals, but that is not the case with the Hi-Volt. Allowing you to precisely dial in whatever mix of eq you like is a major plus, and once you add in your specific amount of Gain, look out. This is mainly achieved by the internal boosting of the voltage, up to 16V, providing more headroom than you can imagine and expanding your overall tonal palette. From full-bodied classic rock tones of yesteryear through the Seattle sounds of the ’90s and up through today’s riff-heavy guitar wizards, this pedal can do it all.
If you’d like this pedal to double as a clean boost, you’re going to be pretty disappointed. This guy is for the guitarist that wants to ROCK, and rock this thing does! Sturdy enclosure, true bypass and it’s versatile enough to shine with both single-coils and humbuckers.
