Geoffrey Teese has been building some of the finest wah pedals on the market for 20 years now, and this is one of my favorites. While this particular version is no longer in production (it’s a 2005 model), the RMC5 Wizard Wah remains one of the most popular Real McCoy Custom wahs produced. A mix of the RMC1 and the Picture Wah, the Wizard Wah features exquisite hand-craftmanship, true bypass, tons of non-traditional wah character and yet all the great quack you want from a great wah.
The Wizard Wah has an extended sweep range, providing the user with total control of their tone, and allowing for everything from a nice, smooth top end and mids to a deep but clear low end. It also features a bit of a boost, which I find to be very useful in cutting through the mix. If your wah is on, you want people listening to know it’s on, and there’s no mistaking that fact with the RMC5.
Another marvelous wah from the man himself, Geoffrey Teese. This is a smooth but a bit darker-sounding wah, making it not the most traditional choice for some players. I, however, find it to fit perfectly into my mix, and after trying many, many other wahs, this one is staying right where it is on my board for a long time.
